Wind and Fire in California

First experience of a good Californian wildfire. Driving home last night you could see the fires glowing on the hills not more than 10 miles from where we are.

This morning the sky is thick with smoke and the sun is a red circle in the sky. The office here is telling everyone to go home because the smoke is getting into the Air conditioning system and coming through the office.

The Santa Anna winds are wild with gusts of up to 85mph in places.

It is not so bad up at home as we are closer to the coast and up on the hill, but inland it is pretty bad. Here is a map of the area:
