Sheep Shearing in Christchurch

Sheep-Shearing-1, originally uploaded by Craig vR.

My uncle has a few sheep at their property just outside Christchurch and we got a call from my Aunty Adie to say that hey had Wooley Baa Baa Ltd (seriously) coming out to shear the sheep in the afternoon.

As the kids had missed out on most of the rural exposure living in Hong Kong and Irvine we took them out to learn something really traditional in NZ.

They sheared the sheep and we put the wool in a bail and took it down to the local wool merchant to be weighed and sold. There is a series of photos on Flickr showing the experience.
